Blending Passion, Drama and Poetry:  Introducing “Phoenix Rising”

Curtain, please:  Hidden in the Hills is around the corner!

BLENDING PASSION, DRAMA AND POETRY:”Phoenix Rising”

Phoenix Rising – Oils – 50″ x 40″

The guiding force behind my work is the need, the desire, the inner imperative to express who I am.  We are all many things, many people; we show a somewhat different personality to different people.  Who are we, truly, though?  Even if we were left on an island by ourselves, we would be demonstrating one aspect of who we are, not the totality of our being.

Given these “splits”, I’ve had to distill the essence of who I believe I am and I did that by focusing on what stirs me, what affects me deeply, what makes me feel really alive – regardless of whomever I am with, circumstances, situations and the like.

This distillation came to Passion: A marriage of Drama and Poetry.

I feel that these are the three main elements that stand out in my life and that make up most of me. The Drama is not the hysteria, mind you, but what my favorite Spanish author, Miguel de Unamuno, called “El Sentimiento Tragico de la Vida” – The tragic feeling of life. But Drama does not have to be only tragic; it can be profound happiness, deep appreciation of beauty, sincere empathy with all living beings. Passion is the depth of these feelings.

I marry that with the softness of poetry.

The Poetry aspect can be felt when I am touched by goodness, innocence, altruism, soul beauty.  When I see a loved child, a happy, safe animal, a forest that is respected.  It is the side of me that is least seen “in public” lest I tear up every five minutes, or show glazed eyes that reflect a sunset, or the inexpressible depth of a  Rachmaninoff Concerto.

That’s what inspires Phoenix Rising.

CURTAIN! HIDDEN IN THE HILLS IS AROUND THE CORNER

A heartfelt thank you for being a part of my creative journey, for taking the time to read my newsletters.  Your support has been invaluable, and I have a thrilling invitation for you: an opportunity to immerse yourself in the enchanting world of art, to witness the magic first hand at my upcoming Studio Tour – the 27th Hidden in the Hills.

Why should you be excited about this event?  Well, let me tell you why experiencing art in person is nothing short of exhilarating:

Unveil the Details: a photo in a newsletter can never truly capture the intricacies of a piece.  When you step into my studio you get to see every brushstroke, every layer, and every texture that makes each artwork unique.  The nuances that photos cannot convey are revealed, and the art comes alive before your eyes.

Connect with Emotions: Art isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about emotions, stories and connections.  Standing in front of a piece, you have the opportunity to feel the raw emotion that radiates from it.  You can sense the artist’s intention and the powerful stories that inspired its creation.

Dive into the Artist’s World:Meeting the artist in person offers you an exclusive glimpse into the world of art.  You can ask questions, hear the tales behind each artwork and gain insight into the creative process.  Discover what fuels my passion and the inspiration behind my work.
